NOVEMBER 2013

Public Consultation was held on proposed updates to the Assessment Report and Proposed Source Protection Plan as a result of new research on the Village of Madoc Wells.

The public was invited to attend a public meeting on:

Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM with a presentation at 7:00 PM at the MADOC TOWNSHIP HALL, 15651 Highway 62 near Eldorado.

Written comment was invited during a 36 day consultation period, from October 31 to December 6, 2013.

MAY 2012

During a 36 day consultation period, the public was invited to find out about the Draft Proposed Source Protection Plan and the policies in it. Meetings were held so the public could review the document, hear an informative presentation at 7:00 PM, view maps and displays, ask questions and provide their comments. Meetings were held from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on:

May 7, 2012 at the Kiwanis Centre, 137 St. Lawrence Street East in Madoc

May 9, 2012 at Quinte Conservation, 2061 Old Highway 2 near Belleville

May 10, 2012 at the Community Centre, 375 Main Street in Picton.

The Draft Plan was refined based on input received and a further 30 day comment period was held during July 2012. The Proposed Source Protection Plan was submitted to the Minister of the Environment in August 2012.

MAY AND JUNE 2010

Four meetings were held in May and June 2010. At each meeting there was there was an opportunity to view the Draft Proposed Assessment Report, listen to a presentation, view maps and displays, and ask questions and provide comments on the report. Meetings were held:

1. Monday, May 17, 2010 at the Strathcona Paper Centre, 16 MacPherson Drive in Napanee from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with a presentation at 7:00. (This was a joint meeting with the Cataraqui Source Protection Area.)

2. Monday, June 7, 2010 at Quinte Conservation, 2061 Old Highway 2, near Wallbridge Loyalist Road, Belleville from 6:30 to 8:30 with a presentation at 7:00

3. Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at the Royal Canadian Legion, 347 Main Street, Picton from 6:30 to 8:30 with a presentation at 7:00

4. Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Kiwanis Centre, 137 St. Lawrence Street East, Madoc from 6:30 to 8:30 with a presentation at 7:00

MAY AND JUNE 2009

Those attending the 2009 May and June Open Houses saw information displays and maps of vulnerable areas. There was an opportunity to chat with staff and committee members and ask questions. Printed material was available and a presentation was made by Keith Taylor, Project Manager.

MADOC: Tuesday, May 19, 2009 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Madoc Kiwanis Centre, 137 St Lawrence Street. Information was available about the Deloro, Madoc and Tweed Wells.

TWEED: Wednesday, May, 20, 2009 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Tweed Hungerford Lions Hall, 65 Victoria Street. Information was available about the Deloro, Madoc and Tweed Wells.

DESERONTO: Tuesday, May 26, 2009 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Deseronto Lions Hall, 300 Main Street. Information was available about the Deseronto and Napanee secondary water intakes.

AMELIASBURGH: Wednesday, May 27, 2009 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Ameliasburgh Hall, 19 Coleman Street. Information was available about the Peats Point well and the Roblin Lake intake.

BELLEVILLE: Tuesday, June 9 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Belleville Public Library, Pinnacle Street. Information was available about the Belleville and Point Anne water intakes.

BLOOMFIELD: Tuesday, June 16, 2009 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Bloomfield Hall, 289 Main Street . Information was available about the Wellington and Picton water intakes.

BATH: Thursday, June 18, 2009 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Loyalist Golf and Country Club in Bath. This was a joint meeting with the Cataraqui Source Protection Area. Information was available about the Napanee primary and secondary intakes.

JUNE 2008

There was a public meeting held at Quinte Conservation on June 4, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 to 9:00 PM to obtain public input on the Draft Proposed Terms of Reference. This document spelled out the work plan and budget required to come up with the Quinte Region Source Protection Plan. Written comments were invited until June 17, 2008.

FEBRUARY 2008

There were two open houses held to inform people about local work to protect sources of drinking water and the Ontario Drinking Water Protection Stewardship Program - a voluntary stewardship program for landowners living near municipal wells or drinking water intakes.

Open houses were held at the Kiwanis Centre in the Village of Madoc on February 19, 2008 and at the Fish and Game Club in the east of Belleville on February 20, 2008.
