City of Belleville Drinking Water
The City of Belleville has two municipal drinking water systems: The main system servicing Belleville residents and the smaller system serving the hamlet of Point Anne.
The main Belleville Drinking Water System includes the water treatment plant and distribution system which together provides a supply of potable drinking water to approximately 40,000 people. This total includes the city population and also customers in Thurlow ward and Rossmore in Prince Edward County.
A small portion of the Rossmore area along the Bay of Quinte in Northern Prince Edward County is also affected by policies to protect the Belleville water supply.

How is the drinking water source protected?
Ontario's Clean Water Act was created specifically to protect drinking water at the source rather than simply relying on water treatment alone to deliver safe, clean water. Because of scientific work completed under thisAct, the City of Belleville now has a mapped Intake Protection Zone (PZ) that is protected through policies in the Quinte Region Source Protection Plan.
