FLOOD OUTLOOK EXTENDED AS QUINTE CONSERVATION CONTINUES TO MONITOR CONDITIONS
Up to 35 mm of rain is expected across the Quinte Conservation Watershed this weekend. Temperatures reaching a high of 10 degrees is forecasted for the southern regions of the watershed. Northern Regions can expect warmer conditions as well, but temperatures may not reach the same high. Warm temperatures will continue into next week from Tuesday to Thursday.

Weather forecasted across the Quinte Conservation Watershed over the next week and a half will typically include small amounts of precipitation with above freezing temperatures during the day and below freezing at night. This will allow the existing snowpack to slowly melt.

QUINTE CONSERVATION ISSUES A FLOOD OUTLOOK STATEMENT
Warming temperatures and 5-10mm of rainfall over the next few days will have an impact on snowmelt. Currently ice covered and frozen ground will allow for 20-40mm of snowmelt runoff to enter creeks and rivers. This accounts for 50% of snow water in the southern portions of the watershed.

The weather forecast for the weekend and into next week shows a warming trend with chance of precipitation. This will cause the snowpack to ripen, increased runoff and, higher flows.

Unforecasted heavy downpours have caused unexpected localized flooding on roadways, low lying areas, and on small creeks and streams.
