FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 2, 2018
STEP INTO NATURE WITH ADOPT AN ACRE
Quinte Conservation’s popular Adopt an Acre program is back starting November 1, 2018 and the proceeds from your adoption support the conservation area of your choice.
CAO Brad McNevin says, “In the past, donors were only able to symbolically adopt an acre of Quinte Conservation land; however, this year, individuals can direct their donations to a specific area.”
Acres are $25.00 each and come with an adoption certificate. Purchase two acres and you will receive a Quinte Conservation Annual Parking Pass valid for one year. As a bonus, take home a plush toy forest friend for free!
Adopt an Acre makes a great gift for friends, family members, teachers, or co-workers.
McNevin adds, “Adopt an Acre is a wonderful gift to give to someone who enjoys spending time in nature, as the annual pass grants visitors free parking and access to all of Quinte Conservation’s areas. Now that Adopt an Acre supports specific areas, we’ll have more money to invest in creating a better experience for our visitors.”
Proceeds generated from Adopt an Acre support conservation area maintenance. Over time, visitors will see improvements to trail systems and upgrades and replacement of structures like bridges, boardwalks, shelters, picnic tables, and benches.
People can adopt their acre by visiting or calling the Quinte Conservation office or by going online to www.quinteconservation.ca.
Quinte Conservation hopes to adopt out 250 acres this year. Last year the program raised just over $10,000.
