QUINTE CONSERVATION ISSUES WATER SAFETY STATEMENT FOR BOATERS ON THE BAY OF QUINTE
Quinte Conservation is issuing a Water Safety Statement for boaters due to high water levels and debris in the Bay of Quinte. General Manager Terry Murphy says, “Water levels are high on the Bay of Quinte and due to wind and waves there are increased amounts of debris such as logs in the water. This weekend is the opening of walleye season and there will be increased boat traffic on the Bay. We want boaters and anglers to be aware of this potential safety hazard on the water.”
Boaters and residents should also take care around boat launches and docks during this time of high water.
Quinte Conservation issues Water Safety Statements regarding changing conditions in the watershed. A Water Safety Statement indicates that high flows, unsafe banks, or other factors could be dangerous for users such as anglers, boaters, swimmers, children or pets.
