2026 - 07 - 21 - Jamie Prud'Homme Memorial Fund Honours Jamie's Love of Nature with $2,200 Donation to Quinte Conservation
BELLEVILLE, ON – The Jamie Prud'Homme Memorial Fund, administered through Benefaction Foundation, has made its first annual donation, providing $2,200 to support Quinte Conservation’s outdoor education program.
The donation honours the memory of Jamie Prud'Homme, whose love of nature, wildlife, and especially butterflies, continues to inspire her family's commitment to supporting outdoor education opportunities for children.
"Jamie's favourite summer camp was Quinte Conservation," said the Prud'Homme family. "When we established the Jamie Prud'Homme Memorial Fund through Benefaction, we knew Quinte Conservation would be the perfect recipient of our first donation. The experiences Jamie had there helped foster her appreciation for nature, and we wanted to help ensure those same opportunities remain available for future generations."
Quinte Conservation has provided outdoor learning experiences to thousands of children across the region. The Prud'Homme family chose to direct the donation through Quinte Conservation's Laurie Gashinski Fund, which helps young people connect with the natural world through hands-on outdoor education and exploration.
"We wanted to support an organization that has made such a positive impact on children in our community," they said. "Outdoor education teaches valuable lessons about the environment while encouraging curiosity, respect for nature, and lifelong learning."
A portion of the donation will support an outdoor education initiative at Nova Children's Daycare Centre, where children will participate in a program focused on caterpillars and butterflies as part of the daycare's expanding outdoor education curriculum.
"Jamie's love of nature and butterflies makes this project particularly special to our family," said the Prud'Hommes. "It is wonderful to know that this donation will help young children discover and appreciate the natural world in the same way Jamie did."
The daycare has recently expanded its outdoor learning space beyond a traditional vegetable garden to include a new butterfly and pollinator garden, helping children learn where food comes from and understand the important role bees, butterflies, and other pollinators play in supporting healthy ecosystems.
"This donation will help create meaningful opportunities for children to connect with nature through hands-on learning experiences," said Lindsay Nash, Outreach and Stewardship Coordinator with Quinte Conservation. "We are honoured to work with the Jamie Prud'Homme Memorial Fund to celebrate Jamie's legacy and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards."
