Children painting yellow fish next to a stormdrain

Designed and managed by Trout Unlimited Canada, the Yellow Fish Road™ program a nation-wide environmental education program.

The program educates Canadians that storm drains are the doorways to our rivers, lakes and streams and anything other than rainwater can harm life in and around the water, as well as us as Canadians who need clean water.

Participants learn that together we can prevent pollutants such as soap, fertilizer, litter, dirt, oil, pet feces and construction materials from entering storm drains and protect Canada’s water.

Would your group like to take part in the Yellow Fish Road program?

Contact our Outreach and Stewardship Coordinator. We will work with your group, and your municipality, to locate storm drains on low traffic streets for painting. We will loan your group painting kits and provide you with doorhangers to help spread the word in your community.

Together, we can educate and remind others in our communities that all drains lead to fish habitat, including those drains in our roads.
