FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 29, 2020
GIVE THE GIFT OF NATURE WITH ADOPT AN ACRE
The Adopt an Acre fundraiser is launching once again on November 1, 2020. All proceeds from the program will go toward supporting maintenance and projects in Quinte Conservation’s green spaces and protected areas. This program is being offered at the perfect time to give the gift of nature this holiday season.
Quinte Conservation’s Communications Specialist, Kirsten Geisler, says, “This year has made us realize that spending time outside in nature is more important than ever, and Adopting an Acre is a great way to ensure that these green spaces stay green.”
Adopting an Acre costs $30.00 and includes an adoption certificate with your name, or the name of your loved one, as well as a tax receipt. For the cost of $60.00, you will receive an adoption certificate and your choice of plush toy cardinal, chipmunk, or fox. Give the gift of spending time outdoors in an acre of land supported by your generous donations.
Geisler adds, “Donating to Adopt an Acre supports your local conservation area and is a unique gift for your loved ones as it helps with the continued maintenance of their favourite trails and views.”
All funds raised from the Adopt an Acre fundraiser will be used to support the continued maintenance in conservation areas. Over time, guests in Quinte Conservation’s outdoor spaces will see upgrades and improvements to trails and public structures like bridges, boardwalks, shelters, picnic tables, and benches.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, acres will only be available for adoption by calling the Quinte Conservation office at 613-968-3434 or by visiting www.quinteconservation.ca. Orders must be placed by December 1, 2020 for delivery in time for the holidays. Curbside pick-up is not available this year.
Quinte Conservation hopes to adopt out 200 acres this year. Last year the program raised just over $5,000.
