FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 22, 2020
DEPOT LAKES TRAILS OPEN FOR PASSIVE RECREATIONAL HIKING
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, Quinte Conservation wants to ensure the safety of watershed residents. Staff would like to remind visitors that while the Depot Lakes Conservation Area remains open for passive recreational day use, the use of motorized vehicles (this includes ATV’s, dirt bikes and side by sides) on trails is strictly prohibited.
Motorized vehicles on trails contributes to deterioration of the area and puts users, vehicle operators, and wildlife at risk as the trails are intended for foot traffic only.
In addition, visitors are reminded that there is no garbage pick at any of Quinte Conservation’s areas and that individuals are expected to clean up after themselves and to practice leave no trace principals while at the location.
Those caught violating conservation area rules may be subject to fines.
